Jackson Browne - "The Load Out"

The best road song ever (especially when "Stay" kicks in at around 6:25):

Barbra Streisand

Knowing the Village Vanguard pretty well, I could imagine what Barbra Streisand's one-night-only performance, before only 123 people, must have been like, and what it felt like to be there.

UPDATE: "Here's To Life" - live performance from the Vanguard!

I look forward to "Love Is The Answer," her new album, which was produced by Diana Krall, and being able to see the Village Vanguard performance when it is released on DVD.

Linda Ronstadt Live - Tumbling Dice

It's back -- maybe not for long...enjoy!

Linda Ronstadt was a pioneer Rock and Roll woman who paved the way for those who came after.

We saw her at the Orpheum in Boston in 1974, before the era of elaborate stage sets, lighting and costumes. As this clip from that period demonstrates, she and her band absolutely kicked ass.

No frills, no smoke and mirrors -- just straight-ahead Rock and Roll in its purest form from one of the best singers of all time.

Mysti Mayhem

It's always so wonderful to discover a new singer/songwriter with the kind of fresh, smart, and accessible voice that makes you want to hear her song again as soon as it's over.

Thanks, Andy, for telling me about Mysti Mayhem!

"William Zanzinger Killed Poor Hattie Carroll"

William Zantzinger died on January 3, at age 69.

Bob Dylan told us about the murder on "The Steve Allen Show" back in 1964 -- at a time when having Dylan as a guest took a lot of courage on Steve Allen's part:

Bonnie Raitt - Love Me Like A Man

I saw Chris Smither at the gym recently; here's one of his best songs:
